Bowler shoots 800 series
By Tim Spencer - Newsletter Editor
On November 17, 2008 at AMF York, Randy Proctor started his Friday night league like any other night. He rolled a 268 the first game. The second game was no different when he posted a mirror score of 268. Randy was on pace to roll an 800 series that night.
The third game he started out with the first 8 strikes.
The ninth frame, he got the ball a little wide and it did not make it back to the pocket, he covered his spare. Randy doubled in the tenth, with one ball left; a couple of bowlers looking on approached him about his score. He was sitting, at that point, with a 268 game.
He could “dump” one in the channel to not only have an 804 series but set the record in the Association with the highest triplicate score. Would he do it? Or will he bowl his game?
Randy being who he is, got on the approach and threw his shot. He finished with a strike and a 279 game for an 814 series. Randy beat his previous series of 806 from March 2007. This goes to show you his integrity in the game of bowling and how it should be approach by all.
